Vice Minister Qu Dongyu meets FAO Representative in China, DPR Korea and Mongolia

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met Mr. Vincent Martin, FAO Representative in China, DPR Korea and Mongolia, in Beijing on Sept. 19, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation.

 

Vice Minister Qu welcomed the newly-appointed FAO Representative on his assumption of office in China, and spoken highly of China-FAO cooperation. Vice Minister Qu noted that China and FAO, based on existing sound cooperation, could further tap the cooperation potential and constantly deepen the cooperation.

 

Vice Minister Qu hoped that, under the new circumstances, the FAO Representation in China could better align its work with China's development strategy, support the implementation of agricultural cooperation strategies of the Belt and Road Initiative and other programs, work to upgrade the function of the Beijing office, expand human and financial resources and foster synergy among all related parties to jointly promote agricultural development and ensure food security in China and the rest of the world. He expressed China's willingness to increase its support to the FAO Representation in China in finance and working conditions as required.

 

Mr. Martin expressed his appreciation to China for its long-term support to FAO. He pledged to further improve China-FAO cooperation by leveraging FAO's expertise and exploring new role of the office.
